Market interpretation and suggested positioning

Competitive structure

  • Local/value: roughly ¥90,000-¥115,000 for a Furano day, often with transport but excluding lift tickets and avalanche equipment.
  • Core professional: roughly ¥130,000-¥160,000 for a private full day with pickup and flexible destination selection.
  • Premium/peak: roughly ¥175,000-¥185,000, driven by high-season pricing, international guide teams, or broader operating infrastructure.
  • Unlike Niseko, many Furano products use one tariff for resort powder, lift-assisted backcountry and full touring; equipment requirements differentiate the actual product.

Important survey cautions

  • Several local websites do not identify a winter season. Treat those rates as leads, not confirmed 2026-27 tariffs.
  • Furano Backcountry Guide has an apparent four-person typographical error; this report shows the implied total and flags it.
  • Central Powder Tours is a very low outlier with unusual yen conversions; it is excluded from the core market band.
  • Summit’s public 2026 price is currently available through a third-party listing, while the operator page describes the product without a current tariff.

Indicative price architecture for Shimogoryo Base

ProductSuggested 2026-27 group pricePositioning logic
Furano lift-accessed powder / off-piste day, up to 4¥125,000-¥135,000Above undated local/value pages, near the lower-middle of current professional competitors.
Same product including avalanche kit and local pickup¥135,000-¥145,000Clear all-in value versus operators charging ¥5,000-¥5,500 per guest for safety equipment.
Kamui, Tomamu, Sahoro or Asahidake explorer day¥145,000-¥155,000Reflects driving, destination flexibility and longer operating day.
Full Tokachidake / Daisetsuzan touring day¥150,000-¥165,000Places the product in the core-to-premium touring band without matching the highest international tariffs.
Peak period surcharge, approximately 15 Jan-20 Feb+¥10,000-¥20,000 or minimum bookingConsistent with Whiteroom’s strong peak uplift and limited guide supply.

Method and limitations

This is a desk survey of operator, resort and authorized third-party pages available on 25 June 2026. The scope is the commercial market serving guests based in Furano and nearby Central Hokkaido destinations, not ordinary piste-only ski lessons.

Per-person figures are simple divisions at the stated maximum group size. Ranges may reflect season, destination or group size. “Included” and “excluded” fields reproduce only items stated clearly on the cited page; silence should not be treated as a contractual promise.

Before using a price commercially, confirm consumption tax, guide lift tickets, pickup geography, vehicle/transport legality, guide ratios, equipment requirements, insurance, cancellation terms, gate or ropeway closure treatment, and whether the listed season is 2026-27.
