Technical intelligence for decisions where AI ecosystems, emerging hardware and component architecture, media production economics, AI workload behavior, and component supplier roadmaps intersect. You are not paying for pages, you are paying to avoid a wrong architecture decision, wrong product bet, wrong supplier assumption, or wrong AI roadmap.
Andy Kowles, Owner and Principal, has recent high level experience inside the Chinese, Japanese, European, and American AI Hardware Builder and Research community (2025-2026) as a Chief Expert and Lab Director at Huawei Zurich Research Center as well as Principal Engineer at Toshiba Devices and Storage Corporation in Yokohama, Japan. In addition to familiarity with the latest AI software and hardware R&D, and technology roadmaps both in the US and Asia, Andy was leading teams in pathfinding, competitive analysis, strategic product research, and roadmap architecture, engaged at the SVP level in multiple large companies.
Ever a builder, too, Andy has continuous recent experience building sophisticated software with agents using the latest models and applications from Claude Code, GPT, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and DeepSeek. Recent customers include Toshiba, Deepseek, Alicloud
In summer 2024, Andy provided consulting insights related to the AI-driven data center build boom and specific recommendations about which companies were well positioned. I specifically recommended ALAB, ARM, and MU as well as generally recommending interconnect suppliers (e.g. MRVL), liquid cooling technology vendors, and storage and memory component suppliers (which includes STX, WDC, Hynix, Samsung, and Kioxia).
Prior to Huawei and Toshiba, Andy worked as a Principal Engineer at AWS (2020-2023), and led SSD product development teams at MU (2018-2020), and build highly successful and disruptive HDD systems at STX (2002-2018)
Passionate about building disruptive technologies, leading teams, and answering tough questions. Let me answer your tough questions and provide customized insights to your firm. I recommend you select at least some level of exclusivity.
I have experience also in Space Systems Satellite Design (Colorado Space Grant Consortium) and studied Global Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and International Security and Political Economy at the University of Denver Korbel School (Josef Korbel School of International Studies), so I can break down the economics of the space-based AI economy.
Andy is legally authorized to work in both Japan and the United States.
